The parakeets will often roost together in large groups throughout the day. During the breeding season they tend towards smaller groups (often only a pair of birds) but the flock size begins to rise in August. Notice the bird at the top of the crabapple tree, watching for predators as other birds feed. It is not known if they have a true sentinel system.
